8th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS-VIII) :
  • Ministry of Agriculture is to organize the 8th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS- VIII) in New Delhi from 18-21 November 2019. It was announced by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra DG ICAR & Secretary DARE. The conference will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. The Chief Guest of the ICAS conference will be Bill Gates.

  • The ICAS-VIII Conference will be organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, International Symposium on Intergrated Circuits and Systems (ISI- CAS), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Asian Development Bank (ADB), world Bank, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Eurostat, AFDB and Various other organizations.
  • The theme of 2019 ICAS-VIII is Statistics for the Transformation of Agriculture to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • For the first time that such an important conference in the field of agriculture statistics is happening in India.
  • The conference will have five plenary sessions and 44 technical sessions.
  • The conference will provide a learning opportunity for young scientists, statisticians, and decision-makers in India to adopt modern practices in agriculture such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data analysis, precision farming.
  • The Conference is held to address various challenges faced in producing data to report on the SDG. 
India is to host the 2019 World Kabaddi Cup:
  • India is to host the 2019 world Kabaddi Cup from 1-9 December 2019. It will be organized by the Punjab State government. It was announced by the Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi.
  • The inauguration ceremony of the event will be held on 1 December at Guru Nanak stadium, Sultanpur Lodhi, and four matches are scheduled for the opening day.
  • Nine teams are participate in this world cup their name: India, England, Kenya , Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Shri Lanka.
International buyer-seller meet on Agriculture & Horticulture :
  • The first-ever international buyer-seller meet on agriculture & horticulture produce was held in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on 14-15 november 2019.
  • It was organized by the agricultural and processed food products export development authority under the department of commerce, Ministry of commerce and industry.
  • The two day meeting was inaugurated jointly by Minister of agriculture and Horticulture, Government of Arunachal pradesh tage taki and the chairman, APEDA and secretary, agriculture and Horticulture, government of Arunachal Pradesh, Bidol Taeng.
  • The aim of the meet is to promote the export of agricultural products. It also aims to facilitate market linkages for agri-exports from the North Eastern Region , especially Arunachal Pradesh, APEDA, and Department of agriculture & Horticulture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Ten International buyers from seven countries of Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, the UAE, Sultanate of Oman, and Greece participated in the meet. 
Jharkhand celebrates the 19th State Formation day:
  • Jharkhand celebrates the 19th State Formation day on 15 November 2019. On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Jharkahad.
  • Jharkhand, the land of forests, was formed on 15 November 2000. It is celebrating its 19th year of constitution in the year 2019.
  • It was previoustly the southern half of Bihar. The foundation day of the State falls on the birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda who is also known as Bhagwan Birsa. He played a vital role in India's struggle for freedom. 
  • Jharkhand means bravery and compassion. It should be noted that the have always lived in harmony with nature. 
 Global Bribery Risk Index out:
  • India ranked 78th in the Global Bribery Risk Index out of 178 Countries.
  • The Index was released by Trace Bribery Risk Matirx. 
  • India scored with a total risk score of 48.
Golden Leaf Award 2019:
  • Tobacco Board of India was awarded the Golden Leaf Award in the Most Impressive Public Service Initiative Category for the year 2019 on 14 November 2019.
  • The award recognized the tobacco Board's efforts to initiate various sustainability green initiatives in Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco cultivation in India.
  • The award was presented to the executive director of tobacco board, K. Sunitha at the tab expo 2019 event in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
First child-friendly police station:
  • Medipally police station is Rachakonda, Hyderabad, has become the first child-friendly police station in Telangana. 
  • The inauguration programme was held on Children's Day 14 November 2019.
  • The state's first child-friendly police station was launched by Bachpan Bachao Andolan 
  • and Telangana police department .
Celebration of Bali Yatra festival :
  • Bali Yatra festivalis being celebrated in Cuttack, Odisha. The festival is organized every year in the memory of the rich maritime history of the state. The festival was inaugurated by the odisha assembly speaker SN Patro.
  • Bali Yatra festival is celebrated every year. The festival is organized at the bank of Mahanadi River. 
  • It marks the day when ancient mariners from the state would set sail to the distant land of Bali , Sumatra, Jawa in Indonesia, Borneo, and Sri lanka for the expansion of trade and culture.
