 What is MTS 

Staff Selection Commission - MTS Stands for “Multi Tasking Staff , often referred to as SSC MTS is an examination conducted to recruit staff to various posts in ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. It is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission selecting staff for Carrying of files and papers within the building. Physical maintenance of records of the Section. Photocopying, sending of fax, etc. Other non-clerical work in the Section/Unit.

 Who can apply 

Candidates must be between 18-25 years of age to be eligible to apply for SSC MTS examination. Candidates must have passed class 10th or equivalent from a recognized university. Non – eligible candidates will not be issued SSC MTS Admit Card

 MTS'S Post 

General cleanliness and upkeep of the Section/Unit.
Carrying of files and papers within the building.
Physical maintenance of records of the Section.
Photocopying, sending of fax, etc.
Other non-clerical work in the Section/Unit.
Assisting in routine office work like the diary, dispatch, etc.
Assisting on the computer.
Cleaning of rooms and dusting of furniture etc.
Delivering of Dak (outside the building).
Watch and ward duties.
Opening and closing of rooms.
Cleaning of the building, fixtures, etc.
Work related to his ITI qualifications, if it exists.
Driving of vehicles, if in possession of a valid driving license.
Upkeep of lawns, parks, potted plants, etc.
Any other work assigned by the superior authority

 Education required for application in the examination 

The minimum educational criteria for SSC MTS eligibility is to have passed the 10th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized university or board.

 Age limit 

The age limit under the SSC MTS Eligibility Criteria is different for different posts. There is a provision of different pay scales for different posts after clearing SSC MTS. As per SSC MTS Notification, the commission has changed the age limit criteria for the various post.

 Nationality/Citizenship 

The candidate must be an Indian citizen or can be subject to Bhutan or Nepal. 

 Physical Ability 

SSC MTS exams - including the relaxations admissible for physically disabled candidates. For others, normal tests like weight, height, urine, blood ,bp , chest, lungs etc,. exams are conducted to find the physical fitness.

Medical Examination Eligibility

Medical examination and medical tests will be carried out as per guidelines of this Notification for each provisionally selected candidate. The Medical Examination will be carried out by a Medical Board nominated by HQ DGBR.

 Exam Pattern

Tier I: Preliminary
The Tier I exam consists of a written objective multiple-choice exam with four sections, covering the subjects of:
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • English Comprehension
The exam was typically scored with maximum 50 Marks per section for a total of 200 Marks.The latest versions of this exam such as with 2019 have been conducted online.
Based on results from Tier I, qualified candidates can then take the Tier II and Tier III exams.
A pen-and-paper "offline" exam in which candidates are to do writing in the form of essay writing and letter writing. The exam can be done in English or Hindi.
